

Harry was born on October 16, 1951 in Republic, Pennsylvania. He attended Holy Rosary Catholic School and graduated from Brownsville High School in 1969. Through the effort and support of his parents, he continued his education at California University, where he graduated in 1973. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ashland University where he earned his Master’s Degree in Education. He continued post graduate work at Cleveland State University, Akron University, and the Montessori Center of Canada.
He moved to Lorain, Ohio in 1973 and began his teaching career at Whittier Junior High School. He met his beloved wife while working at Lincoln Elementary School in 1976. Throughout his 35 years teaching in Lorain City Schools, he embraced the community and formed many wonderful relationships. Through the grace of God, he was given many opportunities to enrich the lives of those who surrounded him. He continued to remain in contact with many coworkers, students, parents, and community members. His dedication to education was recognized as a Martha Holding Jennings Scholar in 1987, and he was recognized in the Who’s Who Among American Teachers.
Harry served as a member of the Clearview Local School Board of Education for 10 years and the Lorain County Joint Vocational School Board for 9 years. Additionally, he served as a liaison between Lorain City Schools and Lorain Head Start. Harry was also an adjunct professor for the Ashland University Partnership at Lorain County Community College. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, the Ohio School Board Association, Lorain Retired Teachers Association, and the Coalition of Hispanic/Latino Issues and Progress.
Harry was a member of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in Spring, Texas. Prior to moving to Texas, he was a member of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church in Lorain, Ohio, where he served on both the Parish Council, the Finance Council, and as a Eucharistic minister. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Chapel in Lorain, Ohio.
Harry enjoyed cooking with his grandchildren and sharing recipes with everyone. He was known as “Papa” to his grandchildren and enjoyed celebrating their achievements and giving them advice. His favorite phrase was “Go with the flow.”
Harry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lydia (Lugo), who he loved unconditionally, his beloved children, Nicholas (Angela) of North Ridgeville, Ohio, Eric (Karen) of Spring, Texas, and Christopher (Maribel) of Conroe, Texas, and grandchildren, Allison, Nicole, Alexis, Anthony, and Leonardo, who were the sunshine of his life. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Hermita) Guerrieri of Lorain, Ohio, and sister Christine (Edward) Ronzi of Euclid, Ohio, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Mildred Guerrieri of Republic, Pennsylvania.
A private ceremony was held at Calvary Hill Funeral Home and Cemetery in Humble, Texas on February 19, 2024. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm at the Gluvna-Shimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel, 3224 Broadway Ave., Lorain, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Frances Xavier Cabrini Catholic Church, 2143 Homewood Dr., Lorain, Ohio with Fr. John Retar presiding. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 555 North Ridge Road, Lorain, Ohio.
