Growing up in Houston, Texas, Larry attended Aldine High School and played football and track. After graduating in 1969 he started working in residential construction building houses. Larry had picked up carpentry growing up from his granddaddy Lee Roy Horton and his father who had a hobby for wood working. He and his brothers did all kinds of projects when they were younger and continued into adulthood. He has put his hands on every house in the family property from building to remodeling. Larry enjoyed tending horses with his siblings and spent a lot of his time working on cars with his brothers. His father made sure that Larry and his siblings always had something to do especially the boys to keep them out of trouble. He later on started working commercial construction where he worked for a couple of different companies building stores all over the U.S. He traveled a lot for work to provide and give his family everything he could. He just recently fully retired. He would give the shirt off his back for anyone. Larry gave to countless missionaries and churches. He helped many people get started or back on their feet. Anytime his daughters needed help around their house he was the first phone call they would make. He always had a project going and before it was done. he had another one in mind. Larry loved to look at house plans and land. He had recently planned to buy a lot and build on it. He loved to fish and played a bit of golf as well.
Larry was a very selfless, giving, kind hearted man. He loved being a dad but loved being a "papa" even more. He would do anything to make his grandkids happy including building them a swing set and talked endlessly about the joy that they all brought him. Larry loved to sit around the table with family sharing stories over a cup of coffee or sitting outside on the porch watching the kids play. He loved his siblings and had daily visits with his sister Ruthell. Just hours after Larry was called home to be with the Lord his eighth grandchild Kyndal entered the world. Larry was a strong follower of Christ. He was a faithful man who loved the Lord and his family.
