Maria was everybody’s mother. She was a woman of faith, generous and a selfless mother, grandmother, sister, tía, daughter, niece and friend. She was caring and nurturing to her loved ones throughout her life. She gave unconditional love, support and advise to anyone without hesitation, as it brought her happiness and purpose. She immigrated to Houston, TX along with her brothers and sisters in the mid 60’s. She was married to her husband, Baldemar for 41 years. She lived in North Houston most of her life where she raised her children and grandchildren.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed discussing current events, shopping, watching the news and Mexican telenovelas. Her early years were spent traveling whenever she could, while her later years were spent with her children, celebrating birthdays and gathering with loved ones for her favorite holiday, Christmas. Her greatest pride was spoiling her grandchildren. Most Sundays, you could find her having breakfast with family at La Madeleine followed by shopping at the mall. She was a sports fan, as her favorite was fútbol.
She loved to hit the slot machines, which started an over 15-year tradition of traveling to Las Vegas with her sisters for New Year’s Eve. For her 80th birthday, her family took her to Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, LA to celebrate her milestone birthday.
