

Mark was born, November 16th, 1955, in Evanston, Illinois. His parents were Robert Marshal Palmer and Lillian Jean Bailey. His younger sibling was Jeffrey Marshal Palmer. He was married to Susan DeWitt Palmer on May 16th, 1987. Susan and Mark welcomed their son, Carl Palmer, on July 8th, 1989.
Formative years:
Mark's father moved their family west in the 1960s for work and settled in Corona, California. Mark played Little League, rode dirt bikes, and was always surrounded by friends. He graduated from Norco HS in 1973 and left California in a 1950 Orange Chevy for Evanston, Illinois. where he would attend Northwestern University. While pursuing his undergraduate degree, Mark was an active and rambunctious member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He graduated in 1977 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History. Mark excelled in academia and went straight to Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating in 1980 with his Master of Business Administration. Upon completion of his MBA, he once again decided to continue his education. In hopes of attending law school, he took a year and worked at the Chicago Bar and Grill as a bartender and part-time manager. He earned enough to pay for his first year of law school. Mark received his Juris Doctor from Creighton University in 1985. Mark went on to pass the Texas Bar exam in May 1987.
Family:
In August of 1985, Mark came to visit his Mom and brother Jeff in Arlington, Texas. During this home visit, he rekindled with Susan. Shortly following his reunion with Sue, Mark moved to Houston in October of 1985. Mark began clerking for Sandy Peebles, Family Law Attorney. Mark and Sue were married on May 16, 1987. They have one son Carl, born in 1989. Carl married Desiree on September 17, 2017, and their son Cooper was born 4/20/22. Mark was adamant that he would be there for Cooper's 1st birthday. His birthday was celebrated in Houston, Texas and Mark was delighted to celebrate and share in cupcakes during the occasion!
Achievements:
Mark was most proud of his son, his law degree, and the Cubs. His achievements include: passing the Texas Bar to practice law in 1987, watching his son graduate from college, and watching and sharing in his lifelong dream of his Cubs winning the world series with his son, Carl in 2016.
Hobbies:
In his youth, Mark played baseball and was a member of DeMolay. However, Mark’s biggest joy was being able to coach several years of Carl’s little league teams and watch him play football and baseball throughout high school. He also was passionate about fantasy football and was very proud of once finishing in 2nd place. This earned him a special one-time only 2nd place trophy!

A memorial service will be held at on Sunday, May 14th, 2023 at 1:00pm. The location of the memorial service is Calvary Hill, 21723 Aldine Westfield, Humble, TX 77338.
