Nathan Howard Harrison, 70, was called home on August 11, 2024 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on October 24, 1953 in Roswell, New Mexico to Wandall Lee Harrison and Alpha Christine Howard Harrison. Nathan grew up in Roswell and graduated from Roswell High School in the class of 1972. Soon after graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Jacquelyn LaReau, and they began life’s adventure together. They had three boys, Jim, John, and Luke, and he enjoyed every season of their lives and was very proud of them. Nathan was known to family, friends, and co-workers as a man of common sense, humor, and integrity who could repair anything. His sons and grandchildren would bring him toys to fix when they were young and cars to fix as they grew older. He credited God with giving him the skills to fix anything and everything. He was a man of integrity who was raised in Church and walked with God, even though he did shoot the preacher with a cap gun on live radio during a Sunday morning service when he was ten years old. Everyone who knew him could see the Lord’s hand in his life. Even in the midst of his struggle with cancer, he preached Christ at every opportunity, touching the lives of those around him who also struggled with the dreaded disease.
Nathan practiced his mechanical expertise at a variety of jobs, starting out as a gas station attendant at fourteen years old and culminating with his service as an Electronic Technician at the United States Postal Service. After high school, he worked as TV director at KBIM TV in Roswell. He joined the United States Air Force in 1975 and traveled from Georgia to Germany, Denmark, England, and Panama, as he repaired electronics on the F-4 Phantom II. Following his time in the Service, he became an electrician apprentice back in Roswell. He later worked at Innovation Industries, an electronics company that built elevator pushbutton panels, and started TRIEX, an elevator pushbutton company in Houston. He later worked as an electronics technician for the United States Postal service for 21 years and retired in July of 2016.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his children and grandchildren, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with Jackie.
Nathan is preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Christine Harrison, and one granddaughter, Charlotte Grace Harrison. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jacquelyn; his three sons, Jim Harrison (wife Anne), John Harrison (wife Mary), and Luke Harrison (wife Amanda); his remaining eight grandchildren, Jeremiah Harrison, Coleman Harrison (wife Ainsley), Travis Harrison, Lance Harrison, Tyler Harrison, Evan Harrison, Audrey Harrison, and Christopher Harrison; and his brother David Harrison (wife Jan) and their family.
