Violaine Rene

Violaine Lamercie Rene (Vio) of Les Cayes, Haiti passed away on January 8, 2022 at the age of 70. She was born on November 12, 1951 in Les Cayes, Haiti where she married Milou Damas and had three children; Stanley, Christelle (Fatima) and Millienne. She also had an adopted son, Marc Rene.

While living in Haiti, Violaine worked as a teacher and also as a personal chef for former president Aristide. She moved to the United States in 1994 with her children where she worked as a nurse until she retired.

She is preceded in death by her parents, brother and husband.

She is survived by her son Stanley Damas and two daughters, Millienne Bernard and Christelle Damas; an adopted son, Marc Rene; a daughter-in-law, Gao Damas; a son-in-law, Patrick Bernard; and three granddaughters, Salina & Soraya Damas, and Patley Bernard.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Regent Care as well as all the Vantage Hospice nurses and caretakers for the care and compassion they showed our loved one in their final days. The family would like to also thank family and friends for the love and support showed during this difficult time.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of life at Calvary Hill Funeral Home on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 11am. Visitation with the family will begin at 10am. A reception will be held at the Damas Family residence following the service.
