

On August 2nd, 2021 Virginia Aguilar Zepeda, loving wife and mother of two, passed away at the age of 74, two days short of her 56th Wedding Anniversary and three days short of her 75th birthday. Virginia was diagnosed with terminal cancer three years ago and was given less than a year to live, she fought on for almost three years.
Born in San Antonio, Texas, on August 5, 1946, her father was a native of San Antonio and her mother immigrated from Guadalajara, Mexico when she was only three years old. Her father's family came to Texas in the late 1700's in present day Laredo and moved to San Antonio after the Texas Revolution. irgnia graduated from Providence High School in 1965 and attended a Tech college afterwards.
Always one to lend a hand when needed, when her nieces volleyball coach at Sacred Heart left the school mid-season, she was asked to step in and take over the team despite having never coached before. Soon afterwards she met her future husband, Arthur Zepeda, who was a volunteer coach for the softball team. They were married on August 6th and remained married till her passing.
Her family moved to Houston in 1974 and then to Spring three years later. She began taking care of children at her house a few years later and continued doing that till her retirement. The last dozen years she took care of special needs kids after several of their parents, who she knew from St. James Catholic Church, could not find anyone who would watch them.
Virginia loved children and especially her granddaughter. She came out of retirement to volunteer at her granddaughter's school so she could see Gabriella more often. She volunteered at St. James Catholic Church where she worked in the office and often times helping out with Sunday school.
Virginia leaves behind her husband, Arthur, her oldest son, Arthur Jr, and his wife Catrina and their daughter Gabriella, plus her youngest son Alan. She is survived by her older brother Valentine, and is proceeded in passing by her older sister Shirley Rodriguez, and younger brother Jimmy Aguilar.
There will be a Rosary said for Virginia Zepeda at Calvary Hill Funeral Home in Spring at 7pm on Aug. 6th. Her funeral Mass will be on Aug. 7th at 10am at St. James, with a Graveside Service at Calvary Hill Funeral Home at 11am followed by a reception at Calvary.
