Willie Nell "Billie" McClendon, 91, passed away January 26, 2013. She grew up in Bogalusa, Louisiana, and lived in Midland/Odessa and Houston for 30 years. Billie graduated from Bogalusa High and received a scholarship in basketball. She was a homemaker, bookeeper, seamstress, and volunteered at the Food Bank and Meals on Wheels in Odessa, Texas. Billie was a member of Southern Baptist Womens Missionary Union. She enjoyed sharing the love and word of Jesus, sewing, basketball, church activities, giving and handmaking wedding dresses for young brides who did not have the money. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Goldie, her service dog, Stephanie Swafford, her granddaughter, Julie Law, and Park Manor Nursing Home. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Elizabeth Marie, mother, Nancy Barber; father, Thomas Morgan; and husband Leroy McClendon. Billie is survived by her children, Ernest and wife Ruth, Virgil and with Mariam, Bruce and wife Marian; grandchildren, Stephanie Swafford, Eric McClendon, Mary Miller, David McClendon, Marc McClendon, Matthew R. McClendon, Sara E. McClendon, and Lauren Murphy; great-grandchildren, Mollie and Jenna McClendon, Kaysen and Kyle Miller; sister-in-laws, Maxine Morgan and Julie Law Nelson; nieces and nephews, Nancy, Ricky, Mike and Denny. Pallbearers include Ernest, Virgil, Bruce, Marc, David and Matthew McClendon. In liue of flowers the family asks that donations be made to The Alzheimers Association, alz.org.
