Del was born on May 9th, 1952 in Wilkes-Barre, PA, to parents Delbert E. Wech, Sr. and Lois Mountjoy Wech Joyce. He was a 1970 graduate of Frankford High School. He married Theresa A. Kunda on February 14th, 1975. Del attended classes at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science while establishing a career in retail; eventually, he began working at the Juniata Apothecary, where he worked for 20 years before becoming a manager at Rite Aid. He finished his career as a supervisor at the Philadelphia Parking Authority, where he worked in the Off-Street department. Del was a proud longtime resident of the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia, where he was a Republican committee person for the city’s 63rd ward for 40 years. He was a fixture at the polls every Election Day.
Outside of work, Del enjoyed hunting at Nockamixon State Park with his dogs, which he trained on his own, to hunt for pheasants. Del also kept busy with other hobbies, including home improvements, working on cars, woodworking, painting, cooking and baking uniquely designed birthday cakes for his grandchildren. He loved visiting his grandkids most of all, but also enjoyed trips to the beach in North Wildwood.
Del is survived by his wife of 49 years, Terry, daughter Theresa Ryan Auletto (Tony) of Richboro, PA, grandchildren Aaron and Giuliana, step grandchildren Anthony and Bella, daughter Casey Wech of Philadelphia, PA, sister Karen Franchi (Agusto) of Springfield PA, nephews Steven Franchi (Sarah), Dom Franchi, David Wech and Rick Wech. Del was preceded in death by both his parents and his brother David Wech.
A Visitation is scheduled for May 24th, 2024 at the Lamb Funeral Home, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. His visitation will begin at 5:00pm immediately followed by a service at 7:00pm
