Doris M. McCarthy

Doris M. McCarthy, age 94, of Telford, Pennsylvania passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. She was a resident of The Lutheran Community at Telford. Doris was born on July 16,1928 in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated from Dobbins High School in 1945. Doris retired from Fisher and Porter Company in 1991, after 25 years of service.

Doris and her husband, Jim spent several years in Seaville, NJ, where they enjoyed golfing, casinos, the beach and dining out with friends. They were often visited by their children and grandchildren. She moved to Telford, PA a few years after the death of her beloved husband, Jim. Doris lived with her daughter, Edie and son-in-law, Fred for several years. She enjoyed the many new friends that she met through joining the YMCA in Harleysville. Keeping active by playing cards, making beautiful jewelry, going to lunch with both new and old friends, she led a full and happy life. Family dinners and visits from family gave her great joy in recent years. She loved to tell stories about her life to grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Doris moved to The Lutheran Community in October, 2021. She needed more help the last couple of years and with her family, chose the best fit for her. The last nine months of her life were riddled with health complications, but as always, mom smiled and tried to live her best life. The Community staff and residents made her final road a little easier and she appreciated them.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, James McCarthy, her daughter, Doris Mooney and her brother, John McIllhenney.

She is survived by her son, James McCarthy and his wife, Connie, her daughter, Edie Borek and her husband,Fred, her grandchildren: James Mooney, Benjamin Goad, Michael and his wife, Lacey and Mathew Borek, step-grandchildren: Everley Goad, Blake Borek, Bay Borek, Caden Borek.

A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11:00 AM, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 PM at Lamb Funeral Home, 101 Byberry Road, Huntingdon Valley, PA 19006. Phone: 215-357-1260.
