Edwina Marie Mele was born on September 18th, 1930 in South Philadelphia, and was the oldest daughter to the late Concetta & Edward Papalini and oldest sister to the late Imerio Papalini. She graduated from the South Philadelphia School For Girls in 1948, marrying her neighborhood sweetheart, Joseph Mele, three years later on April 7th, 1951.
Edwina and Joseph were happily married for 65 years and are survived by three children; Joseph (Susan) Mele, Charmaine (Ricci) Thacker, Edeo Mele and Susan Prinzi, her dear friend and companion for the last 6 years. She was also the proud Mommom of four grandchildren; Jon Mele (Jessica Mele), Alexis Mele (Bill Eismann), Rachel Mele and Nora Mele. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren; Juliana and Weston Mele, and her two sweet little companions that were with her every day, Ari and Bella.
Edwina will be remembered by her family as generous, strong and full of love. Always giving kisses in the morning to waken the new day and kisses goodnight to sleep tight before bedtime. Her family was always on her mind and she cherished those moments she had surrounding them.
