Bud was born on March 26, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA, to parents Howard and Flora Strickler. He graduated from Abington High School in 1957. Bud served 25 years as a Police Officer in Abington, PA.
Bud was active through his years. He was a Mason and played all sports, including being a semipro softball pitcher. He enjoyed not only watching Philadelphia sports teams, but also had great pride while attending his children and grandchildren’s events whether it be sports, cheerleading or band. Bud loved vacationing with his beloved late wife of 52 years, Mary, and family in their summer home on the Chesapeake Bay. He could often be found on his boat or eating crabs he caught from the Chesapeake.
Although Bud had many interests, his true passion was being a Philadelphia Mummer as a member of the Joseph A. Ferko String Band for 68 years. He followed in his father’s footsteps and was Ferko’s longest tenured member. When Bud was no longer able to march in the New Year’s Day parade, he was still helping behind the scenes and was the top 50/50 seller during practices at the clubhouse.
Bud is survived by his sister, Doris Sciorillo, as well as daughters; Wendy Tyler (Tom), Cindy Navin, Debbie Macaulay (Rob), Susan Strickler, and Bonnie Saboe (Chris). Grandchildren: Tom Tyler, Brett Rube (Jess), Amanda Tyler, Kelsey Navin, Morgan Macaulay, Savannah Breiner (Mason), Ashley Strickler, Connor Macaulay, Gillian Navin, Abby Saboe and Allie Saboe. Great-Grandchildren Rylee, Shea and Harper.
