Born and raised in Philadelphia, he moved to Churchville in his teens and graduated from Archbishop Wood in 1980. He then attended Camden County College and received his Associates degree in Automotive Technology. Later on, he acquired his certification in HVAC technology.
Jim married Pamela Lawfer in 1993 and settled into his home in Warminster. They raised their two sons in the home that he lived in until his passing.
His loved ones will remember him for his great love of the outdoors and willingness to drop whatever he was doing to help anyone in need of his assistance. He loved going to the shore and being around the water (fishing) or being in the mountains (hunting). Jim will be remembered for his quirky sense of humor. He was very talented at fixing anything. He was an avid Eagles and Flyers fan watching most games (and yelling at the TV) with his buddy Ed and anyone else that dropped by.
He loved his children and will be remembered by many as a generous, caring, compassionate man.
Jim was pre-deceased by his parents, Ronald and Elaine (Smith) and his step-mother, Mary Jane Stevenson. He is survived by his wife, Pam, his sons, James Jr., and Daniel, his brothers Ronald (Linda) and Michael (Betty) and his sister Elaine (Daniel) Hines and various aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Gathering on Friday, October 30, 2020, at Lamb Funeral Home, Huntingdon Valley, from 4-7:00 pm. The family has asked that everyone come dressed casually in their favorite Philadelphia sports apparel.
