Philip Abraham was born to the Late Mr. Thattapuruckal Iype Abraham and Mrs. Aleyamma Abraham of the Thattapuruckal House, Kaviyoor, Tiruvalla on April 16, 1944. He completed his ITI Diploma in Mechanical Engineering in India and then furthered his education in America by earning Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering. Sunnykutty, as he was known to all of his loved ones and friends, married Alamma Kuriakose in 1972 and resided in Philadelphia since 1976. Sunnykutty comes from a very strong Christian background which included the spiritual inspiration from his parents and both their families, especially that of his maternal uncle, the late Rev. M.P Mathew of the Sihora Ashram. He was an active member of the Bethel Marthoma Church, Philadelphia from its inception and involved himself in local community activities. His daily life consisted of prayers, devoting his time to fulfill his duties as a Christian, tending his gardens and spending time with his family. His legacy is carried through his sons, in whom he instilled his morals and values. Intelligent, courageous, free-spirited, innovative, creative, articulate, and kind-hearted are only a few words that describe him. Though his life posed many challenges, he was one to put aside his own struggles to take care of those he loved and always live life to the fullest. His charismatic personality was a joyous inspiration to all of his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. He cared enough to take the time and make each of them feel loved; encouraging them through his humorous ways. Sunnykutty is survived by his loving wife Alamma, his beloved sons, Abi, Subi, Toby and their families, his mother Mrs. Aleyamma Abraham, his siblings Dr. Abraham Abraham, Rev. T.A Koshy, T.A Varghis, Sosamma Chandy, Mathew Abraham and their families. He was dearly loved by his late sister Amminikutty Thomas and her family.
