

Stanley E. Zocholl died at his home on Sunday, August, 26, 2012. He was 83 years of age. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Hugo and Elsa Zocholl, and the brother of Elsie and Bertha. Stanley had lived in Shepherds Crossing in Warminster for the last 3 years; he was previously a resident of Holland, Pennsylvania for 45 years.
Mr. Zocholl had a BSEE degree and an MSEE degree from Drexel University, and was an IEEE Life Fellow and a member of the Power Engineering Society. He was a member of the Power System Relay Committee, as well as a past chairman of the Relay Input Sources Subcommittee. He joined Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc. in 1991 in the position of Distinguished Engineer. Previous to that, he spent 44 years with ABB Power T&D Company Allentown where he started in an entry level position, working his way up to Director of Protection Technology. Stanley held over a dozen patents associated with power system protection using solid-state and microprocessor technology. He was the author of numerous IEEE and protective relay conference papers, as well as two books. He received the best paper award at the 1988 Petroleum and Chemical Industry Conference. In 1991, the Power System Relay Committee recognized him for distinguished service. His biography appears in Who's Who in America.
Stanley was a member of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church in Feasterville. He was a past Sunday school teacher, member of the church choir and an excellent soloist. Stanley was always fascinated with history and had a particular interest in the Revolutionary War. He had a great love of classical music and also enjoyed woodworking. Those who knew Stan knew him to be a brilliant charming man, who always had a joke to tell. Most of the time, they were pretty good.
Stanley was the beloved husband of Edith Zocholl (nee Wolf) for 60 years. He was the devoted father of Susan Fletcher (Tim) of Doylestown, Joanne Zocholl of Feasterville, and Carol Zocholl of Philadelphia. He was the loving grandfather of John and Katherine Fletcher, and Lauren Zocholl.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, September 4 from 10 to 11 AM at St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church, 65 E. Street Road, Feasterville, PA 19053. His service will be at 11 AM. The entombment will be in Sunset Memorial Park in Feasterville.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Zocholl’s memory may be made to The Roof Fund of St. Stephen’s Lutheran Church.
