Edith Irene Whitesell, 81 of Huntington, passed away on Wednesday December 17, 2025 at her residence. Throughout her life Edith had worked at Memcore, Wabash Technologies, Leer, and Huntington College before retiring from Huntington North High School. Edith had many hobbies in life, including gardening, playing cards, the board game aggravation, sewing and camping. She was known for her extensive collections of Pillsbury Dough Boy memorabilia, Avon Products and Teapots. What Edith most enjoyed was spending time with her family.
Edith was born on August 8, 1944 in Huntington a daughter of the late Howard F. and Mabel (Shaffer) Metzger.
Edith was united in marriage to Paul Whitesell on August 22, 1965 in Bippus. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2025.
Survivors include a son: Mark (Karen) Whitesell of Huntington; a daughter: Cindy (Gary) Rowe of Huntington; two sisters: Mariann Riddle of Albion, and Carolyn Metzger of Bippus; six grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother: Max Metzger and a sister: JoAnna Metzger.
A visitation will be held on Monday December 22, 2025 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, located at 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington IN 46750.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday December 23, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. with one hour of calling prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel.
Interment will be at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Marion.
