EN EL CUIDADO DE
Myers Funeral Home
Edna Jeanette Smith passed away Monday, April 23, 2018, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. She was 59 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, John B. Smith, on March 10, 2018. Edna was an amazing cook with a following around Huntington at the restaurants at which she worked. In her 40’s, Edna enrolled in nursing school and flourished as a student. She graduated at the top of her class and began working as an LPN at Peabody’s nursing home. She loved her job and it was perfect for her nurturing nature. Edna was happiest when she cooked for her family at dinners and gatherings. She loved going to Bingo with her sister, mother and friends. Her favorite time was when she could read with her grandson Davis and spoil him like only Grandmas can do.
She was born in Baltimore, Maryland and Ocean City was her favorite place. She was able to visit there a few years ago with her grandkids and daughter. She also loved going to Michigan to visit her oldest friend Mary Bennett’s cabin. She loved dogs; especially her Pomeranian Jack and her new toy poodle puppy Oakley. Edna is endeared and beloved by many and her sudden death is devastating, but we know she is healed and reunited with the love of her life, John.
Edna was beloved and survived by her three children Rachel Bobilya (Dan), John (Buddy) Smith (April Howell), and Saundra Smith (Anson White); her grandchildren Davis, Mallory, Donovan, Cameron and Logan; her three younger sisters Vickie Parsell, Amy Lahr and Jennifer Hethcote; and her beloved parents Betty and Russ Prasch.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 3:00pm - 6:00pm at JD's Food & Spirits, 426 Warren Street, Huntington, Indiana.
