Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Tabor, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Miller’s Merry Manor, Huntington on July 13, 2020. Betty was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister and grandmother and will be forever remembered by her family and friends for her honesty, strong work ethic, great sense of humor and ever listening ear. All of these admirable traits she successfully instilled in each of her children. Betty lived in many different states and towns throughout her life and was a lifelong nurse. She returned to her hometown of Huntington in 1985 and completed her nursing career at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington.
She was born September 14, 1931 in Huntington to parents, the late William A. McCoy and Elizabeth G. (Loew) McCoy.
After graduating from Ball State Nursing School she married John Allan Tabor on June 14, 1953. Betty was preceded in death by her husband John who died in 1986.
Betty is survived by her four children: Tracy (Don) Jenkins of Fort Wayne; Evans (Ann) Tabor of Cypress, Texas; Sheryln Ducic of Katy, Texas; and Forrest (Cindy) Tabor of Warsaw; a brother: Robert (Carol) McCoy of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren Meagan Wavra, Dani Graham, Nathan Jenkins, Sarah Jenkins, John Tabor and Cora Kennedy and six great grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to all of the staff at Miller’s Merry Manor in Huntington who tirelessly and patiently loved and cared for Betty these past seven years. Additionally a special notice of appreciation for the Heartland Hospice care team who supported and cared for her in her final weeks. We are forever grateful to you all.
A memorial service is to be held this fall in the hills of Brown County, IN. followed by burial in Christiansburg Cemetery.
