Jane (Roberts) Carroll, 80 of Foley, Alabama and formerly of Huntington passed away on Friday, January 15, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Jane graduated from Huntington High School and obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Education from Indiana University (Fort Wayne). Over her 27 years of teaching at Northwest Elementary School and Crestview Middle School, she served as the Northwest girls’ basketball team coach and left an impressive legacy of science fairs and school projects. She was awarded the Outstanding Educator Award twice during her teaching career. She took great pleasure when former students would contact her in retirement. Jane retired in June of 2002, she and Tom spent many years living on Lake Webster relaxing and spending time with family, neighbors and friends. In 2011 they moved to Foley, Alabama where they enjoyed the mild winter weather and living along the Gulf coast. She was an amazingly dedicated wife and mother. She could always be found following, supporting and cheering for her boys at school, music activities and sporting events. Among her interests was a passion for tennis. Whether playing tennis or watching the Tennis Channel, she wasn’t far away from the sport. Jane was an active member of the Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Bon Secour, Alabama and spent many hours volunteering with the church’s Bread Ministry. Jane was born on June 26, 1940 in Huntington, the daughter of the late Clyde and Grace (Beal) Roberts. She was united in marriage to Thomas L. “Tom” Carroll on November 8, 1958. Tom preceded her in death. Survivors include four sons: Jeffrey (Marsha) Carroll, Mark (Zita) Carroll, Matthew (Kimberly) Carroll, James (Melissa) Carroll; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Kenneth Roberts, Everett Roberts, William Roberts and a sister: Opal (Roberts) Poe. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Lancaster Cemetery in Huntington County. We will be following the CDC’s and Indiana’s guidelines for masks, social distancing and social gathering limits. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm at The Gathering Place, 540 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana. Memorial donations can be made out to Bread Ministry of Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church.
