Kathleen J. “Kathy” Bair, 67 of Huntington passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at her residence. Kathy was a 1971 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. She spent most of her career working for Bendix. Kathy loved to make as well as teach her family how to make homemade noodles. She loved playing Bingo, mushroom hunting, cooking, baking, camping, gardening, and spending time with her family. Kathy was born on March 7, 1953 in Huntington, the daughter of Keith D. “Alex’ and Barbara (Bickel) Smart. She was united in marriage to Charles N. Bair on April 6, 1974 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntington. Charles preceded her in death on February 26, 2000. Survivors include three sons: Bart “Chuck” (Amanda) Bair of Huntington; Michael (Haley) Bair of Huntington; Duane (Amber Persails) Bair of Coldwater Michigan; two daughters: Heather (Guy) Walker of WA; Shanna (Ben) Gorrell of VA; six brothers: Mike (Cheryl) Smart of Columbia City; Dave (Lisa) Smart of Huntington; Tom (Trina) Smart of Huntington; Nick Smart of Huntington; Greg (Carol) Smart of Huntington; Charles (Tina) Smart of Stevens Pointe, WI; four sisters: Jean Williams of Columbia City; Raine (Steve) Edington of Huntington; Theresa (Mark) Bailey of Huntington; Angie (Ed) Tackett of Huntington; 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and her faithful canine companion Sammy. She was preceded by her parents. Visitation will be held on Tuesday June 9, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 903 N. Jefferson Street Huntington, Indiana. We will be following the CDC’s guidelines for Social Distancing and Social Gathering Limits. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday June 9, 2020 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church located at 903 N. Jefferson Street Huntington, Indiana, with Father Steve Colchin officiating. Interment will be at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County. Memorial donations can be made out to “Right to Life”, “St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital”, or to the family to help defray the cost of funeral services in care of Myers Funeral Home, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
