M Louise Thorn

M. Louise Thorn, 88 of Huntington passed away at 1:18pm on Monday, November 25, 2013 at her residence. Louise was a 1943 graduate of Huntington High School. She was a member of the Central Christian Church and the Huntington Women’s Club. Over the years she had worked at Miller’s Drugstore, The Lucille Shop, Orton-Crane, and then the Huntington City Water Department, retiring in 2001. She enjoyed traveling and going on cruises, she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Louise was born on November 1, 1925 in McBain, Michigan, a daughter of Harry and Frances (Hughes) Haverman.

She was united in marriage to Virgil “Dutch” Thorn on April 19, 1944 in Huntington. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2013.

Survivors include two sons: Pete (Marilyn) Thorn of Challis, Idaho; Sam (Ruby) Thorn of Fort Wayne; a daughter Peg Smallwood of Huntington; ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters: Mary Jackson and Ethel Christian.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 from 11:00am – 1:00pm at the Central Christian Church, 500 MacGahan Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Central Christian Church with Pastor Chris Hayden and Dr. Sam Young officiating.

Interment will take place at a later date at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.
