Marguerite Helene Westafer

Marguerite Helene (Myers) Westafer, 93 of North Manchester and formerly of Huntington passed away on January 19, 2016 at the home of her daughter in Hudsonville, Michigan. Marguerite and her husband Ralph farmed for 15 years in Lancaster Township and then served as pastor for 25 years to churches in Silver Lake, Sims, Argos, Gas City and Bippus. After retiring, she and her husband served as interim pastors at churches in California, Arizona, and Michigan. Wherever they served, Marguerite loved to play piano for worship services. At 93, she was still playing the piano for worship services for Calvary United Methodist Church in Bippus.

Marguerite was born on December 10, 1922 in Huntington, the daughter of Hildreth and Mabel (Wilson) Myers.

She was united in marriage to Ralph M. Westafer at Goblesville United Brethren Church on January 18, 1945 when Ralph returned from serving in the Navy in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He preceded her in death on June 13, 2001.

Survivors include two daughters: Cynthia (Mark) Davis of Hudsonville, MI; Debra (Jay) Kern of Hughesville, MD; two sons: Dr. William of Cowpens, SC; Robert of Redmon, OR; two sisters: Mary Alice Rickert of North Manchester; Reva June Stern of Huntington; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and twelve step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Hildreth and Mabel; a brother: Doyle W. Myers; a grandson, LCPL Nathan Windsor, killed in action in Iraq.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 2016 from 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford Street, Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with one hour of visitation prior to the service with Rev. Barry Faucett officiating.

Interment will be at the Beech Grove Cemetery in Huntington County.
