Richard E. "Eddie" Shenefield

Richard “Eddie” Shenefield, 89, of Huntington passed away on December 6, 2021 at his residence. Eddie was a graduate of Huntington Township High School. He worked his entire life as a landscaper and at local factories. He spent several years working at Huntington Nursery and on his own. Eddie loved being outdoors; he was a hunter and fisherman. He was actively involved in his kids and grandkids lives. He enjoyed knitting and making hot pads for his family.

Eddie was born on March 15, 1932 in Huntington, the son of the late Richard and Loretta (Peterson) Shenefield.

He was united in marriage to Serena Dillman on October 27, 1956 in Findlay, Ohio. Serena survives.

Additional survivors include two sons: Gary (Diana) Shenefield of Greenfield, IN, Richard (Penny) Shenefield of Huntington; a daughter: Teresia (Lynn) Beaty of Huntington; a brother: Sam (Carolyn) Shenefield of Huntington; a sister: Madge Rogers of Seymore, IN; seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by six brothers: Larry, Mark, Charlie, Carl, Ray, Maurice Shenefield and two sisters: Barb Shenefield, Nancy Coverstone and a granddaughter: Kristi Rene Beaty.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1555 Flaxmill Road, Huntington, Indiana. We will be following the CDC’s guidelines for Social Distancing and Social Gathering Limits.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 3:00 pm following visitation at the church.
