Richard Zickafoose

Richard Zickafoose, age 91, of Huntington, passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 at his residence. Richard was a 1954 graduate of Huntington Township High School. He retired from the maintenance department at Huntington University after several years of service. Richard was a member of Faith Community Church. He was an avid fan of all Chicago sports teams including the Bears, Cubs, Bulls, and Blackhawks. Richard drove Race Cars and local sprint cars for many years at Warsaw Motor Speedway and several other race tracks. He loved the Indy 500, race day was like Christmas in his household. During his life Richard also enjoyed golfing and fishing. He loved his family and will be greatly missed.

Richard was born on July 13,1934 in Huntington, a son of the late Clarence and Mary (Spath) Zickafoose

He was united in marriage to Rhea Sands on September 19, 1954 in Huntington. She preceded him in death on August 17, 2017

Survivors include a daughter: Virginia "Ginny" (Philip) Guth of Elgin, IL, Vickie Roberts of Cibolo TX, Vanessa Uecker of Seminole FL; two sons: Greg (Jill) Zickafoose of Huntington, and Gary Zickafoose of Huntington; a son-in-law: Jim Brown; 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter:Valerie Brown; a granddaughter: Heather Brown; two brothers: Frank Eugene Zickafoose, and Clarence Zickafoose Jr.; and two sisters: JoAnn Kaylor and Grace Zickafoose

A graveside service will be held privately at a later date at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Huntington.
