Ruth D. Garwood

Ruth D. Garwood, 88 of rural Huntington passed away at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 10, 2014 at the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Ruth was a homemaker and a member of the Huntington Baptist Church. She was a 1944 graduate of Jackson Twp. High school in Huntington County. She had worked at Woolworths in Huntington and then at Q.D.P. in Huntington for several years.

Ruth was born on April 20, 1926 in Huntington County the daughter of Roy and Marie (Jennings) Layman.

She was united in marriage to James E. Garwood on Nov. 19, 1950 in Huntington. Her husband survives.

Additional survivors include two sons: Max (Barb) Garwood of Huntington and J.D. (Susan) Garwood of Vail, AZ. Four grandchildren: Judy Garwood, Christy Garwood, David Garwood and Marquis (Sarah) Garwood; one great grandson: Evan Garwood.

She was preceded in death by a grandson Wayne Garwood and a granddaughter Eva Garwood.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2014 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Huntington Baptist Church, 2435 Waterworks Rd., Huntington, Indiana.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Huntington Baptist Church with Pastor Amos Albright officiating. There will be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the service.

Interment will take place at the Clear Creek Cemetery in rural Huntington County.
