

Walter A. Beghtel, 87 of Huntington, passed away at 2:10 a.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Walt was a 1946 graduate of Huntington Township High School. He worked as a heavy machine operator for WW Gravel Company in Roanoke for 42 years before his retirement. He was a member of Central Christian Church. He enjoyed fishing, camping and bowling in his younger years and in his later years enjoyed playing golf.
Walt was born on March 6, 1928 in Huntington, a son of William and Mary (Fisher) Beghtel.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Norma J. Keehn on January 11, 1948 in Huntington. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include two sons: Steven (Suellen) Beghtel of Huntington; Jay (Michelle) Beghtel of Huntington and a daughter: Susan (Charlie) Herring of Huntington. Six grandchildren: Craig (Chanel) Beghtel, Candee (Andy) Kline, Lucas Beghtel, Abby Beghtel, Shannon (Andrew) Fagan and Jeffrey Herring. Eight great grandchildren: Maci Beghtel, Cali Beghtel, Hailee Kline, Emalee Kline, Karson Kline, Kendal Fagan, Addison Fagan and Drake Fagan.
He was preceded in death by a son: Jeffrey Beghtel; three brothers: Donald Beghtel, Carl Beghtel and George Beghtel; a sister: Fern Roof and a grandson: Andrew Herring.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington, IN.
Funeral Service will held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home, with Pastor Chris Hayden and Dr. Sam Young officiating. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the service.
Interment will take place at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Huntington County.
