

Andrew Courtney Roberts was born in Cartwright, Texas, the youngest of 6 children. After graduation from Winsboro High School, he completed business college and began working in Texas City, Texas, at American Oil Company. He joined the Navy when World War II began and was stationed in Hawaii. When the war ended he returned to his job in Texas City and married Nadine Land. The couple had one child, Sherry Lynn Roberts. Andrew and Nadine divorced after 25 years and Andrew never remarried. Having lived to be 88 years of age, Andrew died on December 27, 2010.
While working full-time Andrew attended The University of Houston and acquired both an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree in psychology/counseling. After graduation and after 24 years with American Oil, Andrew then went to work as a Rehabilitation Counselor for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission where he assisted disabled citizens in acquiring training/medical services to aid in their becoming productive members of society. His career path also led him to the Texas Prison System in Huntsville where he counseled with high level security inmates. Andrew enjoyed helping others achieve goals that once seemed unattainable.
As a member of Lions Club International, Andrew was able to serve his community by participating fully in all locally sponsored Lions Club activities. Additionally, Andrew held many positions in his local club in Texas City including being President. Being of the Baptist denomination all of his life, Andrew attended church and Bible study faithfully.
Andrew was a passionate fan of the Texas Longhorns, he always had a dog by his side, enjoyed working in the yard, and was fortunate enough to enjoy many wonderful excursions abroad. He had many hobbies and interests of which playing table games, dancing, listening to music, talking politics, and watching football games are just a few.
Andrew is predeceased by his parents, Charles Luin Roberts and Carrie Jane Turner Roberts, his brothers, Travis Roberts, Charles Truman Roberts, Arlin Roberts, and sister Marie Roberts Bailey. He is survived by his sister, Carolyn Galbreath; daughter, Sherry Aubin, son-in-law, Mike Aubin, four grandchildren and their spouses, Joey Lynn and Kevin Carr, Jennifer and Jacque Andrepont, Brittany and Jonathan Bowden, Phillip and Maren Aubin, and 7 great-grandchildren, Nathan, Noah, Hannah Lynn Carr, Bella, Arianne, and Sylvie Andrepont, and Adolai Bowden; and by his adopted son, John R. Roberts.
