I miss our midnight talks... and laughs... I have never spoken of our little secrets... and never will! I wish I'd been able to talk to you once more before you passed. I'd have told you how fond of you I was and how amazed I was at what a wonderful, loving mother you had become! I considered it an honor that you wanted Alexander (Bordner) and me to come and meet Victoria in the hospital, right after she was born. What a beautiful child she is! I wish you could be here to hold her in your arms once more... I considered it a point of pride that you asked me to take her pictures that day and I think we captured some truly special images! I want you to know that I have continued taking pictures of her for all of these year... I have recorded little snippets of her life, here and there. Each photo makes me want to cry a little, because I can't share them with you. Wherever you are, please know that I still think of you, still love you and will love Victoria for all of my days.

Hello Pancake Butt.  This is Bubble Butt.  How are you doing?  I have this white rocker sitting on my front porch.  Eleanor's husband Bill gave it to me after she died.  I go out and feel the breeze, smell the fresh air, watch the clouds roll by and well all the nature things.  The most enjoyable thing for me to do is think about all the memories that you and I have shared.  We had 26 beautiful years together and I will always be appreciative to you for all the times you chose me to spend all of your time with me.  I remember Barrel of Chicken in Irving.  They made the best fried chicken in town.  They also had honey buns that we ordered everytime.  Nice crispy little bites of Heaven dipped in honey.  We also went to El Chico.  Good food and a great drag line game.  Boy, did we ever win the toys!!  As I sit in this rocker, I will always have our memories no matter what.

It's been almost 4 years that I've been visiting you here.  Your Mother set this acct. up so that anyone could write something to you.  I need to get a copy of this book for Tori and this will be the last addition to this book.  When I get a copy then I'll take all the things that are yours to give to Tori.  Joe and Cindy will take care of them for Tori.  Joe is doing a great job of raising Tori.  I'm very proud of him.  I talked to Tori a couple of days ago and boy does she like to talk.  Just like you.  lol  She is so cute and you did a great job of raising her until you were suddenly taken from us.  Too early!!  Just because I won't be posting anything else on here I will continue posting private messages on your acct. in Facebook.  Yes, I know that if Heaven has computers then you and your Mother will have one.  So I'm not leaving you.  Just changing where we meet.  

I look forward to seeing you someday.  Say hello to everyone up there.  The next time we meet please go to Rainbow Bridge and we can get Cruz, Lady, Muffin and all our pets.

Happy Easter Ashley.  Do you remember when we went to Senter Park every Easter?  We met Lori and her family there and all of you hunted eggs.  It was a community affair and they furnished the eggs.  Inside each egg was a prize.  Maybe a gift certicate from McDonald's.  Yum!!  Those sure were good times and I miss them.  I know you would have loved to show Tori all the things you enjoyed.  I sent Tori an Easter basket filled with goodies.  I talked to Joe and he says she is doing fine.  I know you miss her but Joe is doing a fine job of raising her.  Tomorrow I'll go early for the after holiday sales.  I'll buy something for Tori and tell her it came from you.  I miss you so very much.  Please tell all that I love them and Happy Easter to all. Dear Ashley, good morning pancake butt.  Hope your day is going well.  This is a very sad day for today you would have been 30 years old.  But, I know that your celebrating with your Mother, Grandparents and all your family.  I hope that you get a Tinkerbelle cake for dessert.  That's what we would have if you were here. Dear Ashley,  Well, today is Valentine and your not here to celebrate with me.  I sent Tori a card.  Hope she got it.  Sharon and I went to eat at Le Plaza.  You don't know this place.  It's where Tres Rios used to be.  It was good and I ate too much.  I wish that you could have been with us.  Tomorrow is after holiday sales.  Of course, I'll be there.  I won't buy Tori any candy for if I sent it to her it just might melt.  I'll try to get her something that I think she might like.  Tonight just going to watch a little TV. Dear Ashley.  I'm sitting here New Year's Eve 2014 missing you very much.  We used to watch the ball drop in New York.  Now as I get older it sure is hard staying awake to watch it.  But, I keep up the tradition just for you.  I had a quiet Christmas and I expect to have a quiet New Year as well.  I did get to talk to Tori and she was so excited about all the toys she got.  Joe is doing a great job raising her and she is getting more beautiful everyday.  I hope to go see her for her birthday this next month.  It depends on the weather and my health.  I look forward to seeing her.  I went to Walmart after Christmas and bought them a few things and will take them with me when I go.  So now it's the end of the year and waiting on another new year to begin.  I really hope that the new year will be a properous and happy year for all.  I love you very much Ashley and Happy New Year.

Hello Ashley.  So many holidays have passed since I last saw you.  I have great memories of all of them.  Today is Halloween and this is one of our favorite.  We would visit all the grocery stores in Irving.  They had games for all the kids and we participated in all of them.  You won prizes and one time we even won a Halloween cake.  It sure was good.  We always went to the community center where you played games and won prizes.  Lots of fun.  I really do miss these good times.  The holidays are not the same and I would rather not celebrate them at all.  But, others say that I have to have holidays with them.  It's not the same but I don't want to be rude and join them.  Christmas and Thanksgiving is coming soon and that's when you absence will hurt the most.  I have other family members to which I miss but I miss you the most.  I wrote another poem.  I was thinking about all my family and friends when I wrote this.  So if you can see it please read and tell everyone else what you read.  Hope you like the poem.




LITTLE ROCKER OF MINE

Sitting on my rocker all alone
I think of days gone past 
Sometimes my mind wanders
Memories not few but vast

Safe and comfy in my chair
Mind is blank and finally clear
To concentrate on many things

Hello Ashley.  Today it has been 3 years since I've seen you.  You left quite quickly and I regret not spending more time with you.  I regret not telling you how much you have meant to me.  How much that I love and miss you.  Today is a very sad day. I just wish that Heaven had a phone so that I could talk to you.  I know that now you are spending quality time with your Mother and family.  That is great.  I miss all of them as well.  

This next week will be the 4th of July.  I know 3 years ago we were going to find some fireworks to watch.  But, you left quite unexpectedly and this didn't happen. I will watch fireworks in my own front yard. I wish that you could be here to watch them with me.  I will sit out in the front yard in my rocker and think of you as the fireworks light up the dark night skies with glorious colors.  Wishing you were here.  I just don't know how to say just how much I love you.  Someday I'll do that in person.  Say hello to everyone.  Happy holiday to all.

Happy Memorial Day Ashley.  Today was a good day.  We got some rain that we desperately needed.  It's been so dry that it's quite a blessing that we got some.  We could use some more but thankful for what we got.  I didn't get to hang the USA flag outside because of the rain.  But, the spirit is within my heart and I'll hang it soon.  This is the flag that you bought in 2007.  I still have it.  I sit and sometimes I think that the phone will ring and it's you.  I would love to talk to you.  Just anytime of the day or night.  I'll be waiting for your call.  Say hello to everyone and tell them how much I miss and love all of you.  Tori is still doing well and getting prettier everyday.  Love you!!

Ashley,  Happy Mother's Day.  Also to your Mother and mine.  I hope your day went well.  I went to Walmart for therapy today.  Bought a roast and that was what we had for dinner.  All day today it was very windy with a chance of rain.  No rain but we lost electricity about a dozen times or so.  We really do need the rain.  The reservoir where we always went is very low.  There are very few geese and ducks.  It's very sad and I hope that we can get some rain soon to fill up the reservoir.  Then the ducks can have lots of water to play in.  I've been on Facebook and Joe sends pictures of Tori to me.  Tori is a beautiful child and is very happy.  I also have been talking to Ronald.  I know you know Ronald.  The two of you talked a lot.  He said that he misses you very much and wishes that he had told you that you were a great friend.  He seems to be a good person.  Well, I need to get off this computer before the electricity decides to go off again.  Wish I could talk to you.  Seeing you would be better.  But for now I'll just have to say that I love you and see ya later alligator.

Ashley, I missed your birthday.  I'm sorry.  We would have gone to Walmart for a Tinkerbell cake and some ice cream.  But, happy birthday.  You would have been 29 years old this year.  Wow, you would be 30 next year.  Can't talk about you getting old because I'll be 72 years old in August.  Boy, is that getting old.  lol  Happy Birthday again Ashley.

Well today is one of our favorite holidays.  Can you guess?  We went to Heritage once a year.  We met Lori and her family for this once a year event.  Yes, Happy Easter Ashley.  I remember all those times and miss them very much.  I talk to Lori ever once in awhile.  She is doing good.  Her little girl sure is growing.

Now tomorrow I'm really going to miss you.  I'm going to Walmart for another great tradition of ours.  The after-the-holidays sales.  The last one we went on was the 2010 after Christmas sale in Huntsville.  I go because it was a tradition with us.  We both enjoyed buying all the sale items and especially just being together.  I will go now to buy some things for Tori.  She sure is getting to be a little lady.  I will miss you when I go.  I will carry you in my heart to the store and in my heart forever.

Ashley, I hope that you are wearing some green.  Today is St. Patrick's Day and you just might get pinched.  LOL  Do you remember St. Patrick's Day 2008?  I drove from Altus, Okla. to Shamrock, Texas where you lived.  I took you and the little girl that you babysitted and we went to the parade.  I parked on a side road facing the street.  We watched from our car.  There was a lot of fancy motorcycles that day.  We enjoyed ourselves and then went out to eat.  Yes, we always went out to eat!!  That day you gave me a shamrock necklace.  You hung it on my rear view mirror and it's still there.  It isn't green anymore but everytime I look at it I think of you.  I look on my dash and there is a Tinkerbell sticker.  Stickers everywhere.  I love it because it reminds me of the good times we spent together.  This was just one memory of you and I.  I have 26 beautiful years of memories with you.  It also saddens me to know that I can't be with you at this time.  I guess I have unfinished business before I can leave to be with you.  But, I look forward to giving you a great big hug when that day comes.  Ashley you made a huge impact on my life and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for this very unselfish deed. I've known Connie Blodgett for 38 years.  Before Thanksgiving I visited her in Conroe, Texas.  She'd been in the hospital since September.  Two years ago she lost her only daughter Ashley and has grieved everyday since.  On one of these visits I found her grieving uncontrollably.  She missed Ashley very much.  I wrote this poem for her but she never got to read it.

Hear my voice in the chill of the winter wind
See my face in the bulbs on the Christmas tree
Feel my touch as I wipe away all your tears
Experiencing these..please always think of me

Tightly hold my child within your loving arms
Hold her to your chest where you used to hold me
Wrap your arms around her hugging and kissing her
Doing this you not only hold her...you are holding me

This morning (January 25, 2014) at 1:25 am she left that hospital to go and give her daughter that long awaited hug.  Maybe a kiss or two.  Connie will be missed and will forever be in my heart.  Rest in Peace Ashley and Connie.

Merry Christmas Ashley.  This is the third Christmas without you.  I miss and love you very much.  There are no words that I can say that would tell you how much I do love you.

A lot of holidays have passed and it doesn't get any easier with the passage of time.  Christmas was always our favorite.  I miss decorating the Christmas tree, shopping, wrapping presents, driving all over town to look at Christmas lights and of course the Christmas parade.   

Tomorrow is the after Christmas sales at Walmart.  We used to go together.  The last time was 3 years ago.  I bought you a lot of decorations for you to use the next Christmas.  I put these decorations out and they are beautiful.  There were some Mickey Mouse stickers that I let Andrea use to decorate her car for the Duke Christmas parade.  Her decorations won second place.  So you were represented in this parade.

I have seen Tori several times and she is the cutest thing.  She looks just like you and has some of your ornery ways.  One day she squirted me with a water bottle and then laughed out really loud.  I've bought 2 water guns.  One for me and one for her.  I'll give them to her this next summer.  She loves to pull dog's tails.  You know that Belle doesn't like that but tolerates her anyway.  I have a new dog.  I named her Baby.  George found her in the woods across from your Mother's house.  I'm very happy that he found her for it rained really hard that night.  She might not have survived that.  She looks like a MinPin.  She's black and tan.  She is a very lovable little dog.  She and Belle are best buddies.

Christmas is not the same without you.  I asked God if he would allow you to come and visit me on Christmas Eve.  I guess those things aren't allowed in Heaven.  Your will always be in my heart.

I feel like you want me to tell your Mother something very special.  I'm going to do this now.  I wrote a short poem and I hope she understands what you are trying to relay to her.  Here goes!!

Dear Ashley


Here it is another Mother's Day and your not here to celebrate with your baby girl Tori.  I went to visit your Mother on a weekend that she had visitation with Tori.  I hadn't seen Tori since July 2011.  It's now May 2013.  In the 2 years she has really grown up and is so very beautiful.  Of course she didn't know who I was and it took some time for her to get accustomed to me.  Well, that is if you can ever get accustomed to me.  When I talked to her on the phone I would talk Donald Duck to her.  You know the same way that I did to you.  You enjoyed it and I believe she does as well.  That weekend we got to know one another.  I had Belle with me and Belle had a problem with barking all the time.  I got a bottle, filled it with water and everytime Belle barked she got squirted.  I would squirt and say "no Belle".  Let me tell you that Tori is a fast learner.  Tori would grab the bottle and say "no Belle" whenever Belle would bark.  This was very cute.  I was in the living room and Tori came in and joined me.  She got the water bottle and was pretending to wipe down the coffee table.  I looked up and she had both fingers on the nozzle.  The bottle was pointed at me.  She looked up at me, smiled, pulled the trigger and laughed.  Okay this sounds a little like you.  Then you never walk off and leave a drink on a table.  She will pick it up and it's no longer yours.  It's hers.  I lost my drink!!  She loved to be bounced on my knee.  This can be very tiring but she was enjoying it.  She loves to play with bubbles and we had a great time doing this.  I really hated to see her go but I know that I will see her again soon.


I came back home to Oklahoma after spending a week with your Mother.  Your Mother wrote on FaceBook that Tori was now speaking Donald Duck.  Your Mother doesn't understand Donald Duck and doesn't understand Tori when she does this.  Your Mother told me that I speak Donald Duck just as bad as she does.  She's sure got the nerve.  lol  I told your Mother that even though we spoke it poorly at least I can communicate with Tori where she can't.  She agreed.  lol  


I miss talking to you even if the calls were made late at night.  I'd gladly miss a few hours of sleep just to talk to you.  All the places we visited, restaurants we ate at are missed.  I miss everything about you and wish you were here so that we could enjoy this Mother's Day.  Until we meet again and from the bottom of my heart I wish you a Happy Mother's Day.

Today is your day and Happy Birthday.  A lot of times people live in regret.  I regret a lot of things. I regret that I didn't do more with you. I regret having to tell you that you couldn't call me late at night. I regret not going into the store with you so that you could show me how they redid your grocery store. I regret that I complained about the simple insignificant things instead of looking at the bigger picture. I wish that you were here so that you could gripe all you wanted to me. We could go out to eat, shopping and just anything that you want to do. I miss having to go out and purchase a Tinkerbelle cake for your birthday.  We always did this together. But,I don't regret you being in my life for 26 years. These were the best years of my life. I miss and love you very much. For 26 years I had a beautiful angel walking beside me. The holidays are all over and you were terribly missed.  Your Mother made sure that Tori had a great Christmas.  She got a lot of really neat things.  I know she liked every one of them because she had a great big smile all over her face.  I talked to her on the phone and she mentioned your name.  She said Mama.  I asked your Mother what she was saying.  She said that she took the phone into her bedroom, picked up your picture and was telling me that this was her mommy.  She knows who her mommy is and will always remember you.  This was so sweet but at the same time I was very sad.  We all miss you very much and we want to see you badly. Ashley, I didn't know you very long, but the little bit of time we spent together was always great. You always made me laugh and smile, if i needed someone to talk to you was always there for me. Even tho i didn't know you for a long time you still changed my life and after i heard the bad news it killed me. I met Ashley when she was one day old. She was one of the prettiest babies that I have ever seen. As she grew, she was always laughing and smiling. She was a very good natured baby. She loved her brother Brian, who would put on a clowns nose and play with Ashley. She thought that was very funny. She laughed most opf the time she was awake. When she was several months
old, she and I were in the back seat of her mom's car. She was in her car seat, and I started to talk to her, and I taught her to shake hands in a few minutes time. She thought that was funny as well as everything else. She was just a good baby and a good little girl. I lost touch with her mom for a few years, so I missed the growing up years of her life, and the school years as well. Anyway, I saw her again after she was grown, and we talked some, and I called and talked to her during a hospital stay. I was very sorry to hear of her passing, and it was a great tragedy. She was so young with a beautiful baby, she had everything to live for. I know that most of us wonder why, but God has His reasons for all things, that we as humans do not understand. She is terribly missed, and I hope that her mom and all of the people that loved her so very much, will have a speedy recovery from the grief. God bless you all and I will pray for you and everyone that her untimely death has affected.

Dear Ashley,
You were only in my life for a short time, we always didn't see eye to eye but I do know that you were a great person.  Sometimes being different is ok, that just makes you want to know that person even more.   I do feel that to a point we did get to know each other and got to understand one another.

I met you on your 21st birthday.  You were a young woman just getting to know yourself.  For sure, you did have your own ideas on things.  That day we met I will never forget.  Having three daughters of my own didn't even prepare me for you.   You were full of life, like a blossoming butterfly just ready to try her wings and learn all about yourself.  You were ready and willing to live life to its fullest.  

After awhile you came to stay with Betty and I.   We had our trials and tribulations, but for the most part, I think we got along.   There were days when I just wanted to strangle you.   As I look back on it now I think it was because you were wanting to spread your wings and I was trying to hold you back.  I felt  that you were going too fast and too hard.  No matter what life threw at you, you were ready to take it on with all your might.  To say you were stubborn and  bull headed is a understatement.  But that stubbornness is what got you through life.  I guess that is why I understood that, because that is what I have had to do with my life also.  

The day your daughter came into your life, was like you had just won the lottery.   She was the best thing that ever happened to you.  I saw this young butterfly turn into a warm loving mother that would give and do anything for her daughter.  Just looking at you, told the whole world, this is my daughter, embrace her and love her as I am.  You would and did everything you could for her.  So Victoria, this letter is actually to you, to let you know that your mother loved you and her love lives inside you and to cherish it for your lifetime.

“Momma's Babygirl”

A beautiful baby girl was born
Pink booties adorning her tiny feet
Ashley Whitney was her name
Dressed in pink and looking mighty sweet.

She had big beautiful brown eyes
A smile that could melt any heart
She was truly a gift from God
Everyone knew this from the start.

She grew up loving Cabbage Patch dolls
“Joanna” was a favorite she named  
She also sold the most Girl Scout cookies
By doing so a new bike she claimed.

She grew up loving God
Honored him each and every way
She attended church regularly
And daily to God she would pray.

Her Mom Connie was her best friend
Also played both parents in similar roles
They always loved doing things together
Sadly now are two separated souls.

God took her from this earth too soon
The heavens opened when the skies turned blue
I know she misses saying three words every night  
Mom, I love you~!!

This is what a good friend I was - I just found out about Ashley leaving us this morning. Ashley you were always a ray of sunshine in a very dark world. Thank you. Always in my thoughts and memories.

Connie.... I don't know what to say. I can't believe Smashley is gone.. We're loosing too many of our family too fast. I hope she tells mom, pat, doug, memaw and grandpaw, lolla gene and the rest hello for us...
