

Martha Lillian Henry, 82, passed away peacefully in her home in Huntsville on November 7, 2011. She was born April 21, 1929, in Ennis, Texas, to Herman and Kate Mathews. She was married for 63 years to Claude P. Henry.
Martha was a graduate of Hearne High School and Sam Houston State University. She taught first grade in Cleveland ISD, retiring in 1980. She was a member of First United Methodist Church Huntsville. The focus of her life was her family. She supported each of her children in all of their activities including serving as Cub Scout and Girl Scout leaders. After retirement, Martha and Claude enjoyed pulling their trailer and driving the Alaskan Highway, numerous trips to Canada, particularly Nova Scotia, as well as traveling through almost every state in the Lower 48. After they stopped traveling, she became almost as good as her grandchildren on using her computer, as well as making her own special occasion cards for each of her family members.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, brother James Mathews, and infant great-granddaughter Sunshine Tillerson. She is survived by her husband, Claude; daughter Jamie Tillerson of Huntsville; sons, Pat and wife Judy of Jersey Village, Tom and wife Lynda of Huntsville, and David and wife Melissa of Magnolia; grandchildren, Robert Tillerson and wife Vicky of Houston, Michael Tillerson and wife Molly of Cedar Park, Chris Ann Stroech and husband Lucas of Houston, Traci Hinchcliffe and husband Morgan of Flower Mound, Cory Henry and wife Kelsey of Houston, Sarah Henry of Jersey Village, and Amy Henry and Tyler Henry of Magnolia; great-grandchildren, Graceyn Stroech, Lily Tillerson, Sienna Tillerson, Braelyn Stroech, Madeline Henry, and Reece Tillerson. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Sally Johns and husband Ken of Albuquerque, NM, Lela Smith and husband Bob of The Woodlands, and brother-in-law, Bob Henry and wife Marie of Houston.
Pallbearers will be Robert Tillerson, Michael Tillerson, Cory Henry, Sarah Henry, Amy Henry, Tyler Henry, Lucas Stroech, and Morgan Hinchcliffe.
The family would like to thank Dr. Tom Cole, Consider the Lilies’ caregivers, especially Jean Archie, Dorothy Harrison, Flo Johnson, Megan Moore, Penny Coxey and Donna Beard, as well as the Odyssey Hospice team for their care and assistance during her illness.
Visitation will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m., Friday, November 11, at Huntsville Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 12, at Norwood Cemetery in Hearne, Texas, with Reverend Scott Dornbush officiating.
