

Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather
OSTERVILLE - Algirdas V. Dapkus, after a long illness, finished his earthly journey on July 1st, 2010. Born in Lithuania, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1948 and resided in Hartford, CT. He served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He married his wife, Regina, in 1955 and together they raised their family in Chicago, IL. Upon his retirement in 1999, he and Regina moved to Osterville, MA. There he served as Chairman of the Lithuanian-American Community of Cape Cod. He also enjoyed collecting stamps, reading books and gardening.
He is survived by his wife Regina, daughter Ausra, son Kestutis and wife Maria and their sons Mykolas and Aleksander, son Andrius and wife Dana and their children Elena, Aras and Lukas, sister Grazina Pileika and husband Vytautas and their children Vytautas and Rimas and their families. He is also survived by his cousins in America and Lithuania.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 5th, 2010 at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home 160 W. Main St. Hyannis, MA from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Assumption in Osterville at 11:00 am on Tuesday July 6th. Interment will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Centerville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 600 Liberty Highway, Putnam CT 06260-2503.
