
Born on July 30, 1931 in Lawrence, MA, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Pauline (Merson) Prolman.
Arlene was very devoted to her religion and a longtime member of Hadassah, ORT and the Jewish Federation. She also delivered food to the needy and volunteered at events at many organizations such as the Cape Cod Melody Tent, the Naples Art Association and the Naples Opera.
She was a gifted artist, often painting acrylic and water color portraits and also had a passion for photography. Being an antique dealer, she established Dunes View Antiques in West Barnstable and was a member of the Antique Dealers Association. Her work allowed her to organize and attend antique and craft shows. Arlene also loved traveling the world with her husband visiting destinations throughout Europe, India, Nepal, Malaysia and Africa.
Arlene was a very loving, kind, gentle and outgoing person. She always made it a point to call every family and friend on their birthdays. She also loved having coffee with her brothers at Tony’s in Naples. More than anything, she cherished the time that she shared with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin Charles Oppenheim of West Barnstable, MA; her son, Keith Robert Oppenheim and his wife, Deborah Gray of Arlington, MA; her daughter, Anne Rachel Welton of Northborough, MA; her grandchildren, Andrew Welton and Jennifer Welton of Northborough, MA; her brothers, Norman Prolman and his wife, Karin of Framingham, MA, Earl Prolman and his wife, Marilyn of Nashua, NH, David Prolman and his wife, Marjorie of Naples, FL; her brother-in-law, Richard Oppenheim and his wife, Jeanenne of Naples; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12 pm on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Cape Cod Synagogue, 145 Winter Street, Hyannis, MA 02601. Burial will follow in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit.
