Beverly Ann Williams (Ladiges) 93, of West Yarmouth, MA, beloved wife of the late Jack Conner Williams, died peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Born in San Pedro, CA, Bev was the daughter of the late Ruth and Roy Ladiges, originally of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Bev grew up in Southern California and became the first in her family to attend college at Harbor Junior College, where she met and fell in love with Jack. After graduation, Bev worked in accounting at Van Camp Seafood. After the Korean War, she made a life as a wife, homemaker and mother. She provided unwavering support to her husband of 68 years which allowed him to pursue an ambitious professional career. She returned to her career at Security Connecticut Life and remained there for many years until she retired.
Bev is best known for supporting her four daughters in their athletic, schooling and professional endeavors. She instilled in them that they could be and do anything they wanted in life with hard work and passion. She also instilled within them the importance of philanthropy with active participation in Job’s Daughters – where she served the highest rank at her local Bethel of Honored Queen.
After her kids grew into their own lives, she was a fierce supporter of the UConn Women’s basketball team, and closely followed professional tennis and the Tour de France. Bev did not miss watching a single Olympics and taught her children a love of sports. In addition, Bev loved arts and crafts, and was an avid recipe collector.
Bev also loved travel with family, both domestic and international, including Aruba, Australia and sailing along the Greek coast. Her travels also included camping and waterskiing in California, the Ozarks and Connecticut. Though she became part of the communities in which she lived, Bev always considered herself a true “Californian” at heart.
Bev often spoke through her expressive blue eyes, a shoulder shrug or a wry humorous phrase. She had a way with numbers and if raised in the next generation probably would have been a CFO. Her family will always hear her say “ANGELS!” whenever the hour and minute are the same number. It was her way of calling out positive energy to her family when it was needed. For now, she has released her energy into that of a larger consciousness and is at peace. ANGELS!
Bev is survived by her daughters, Pam Williams and her partner, Todd Kittredge of Centerville, MA; Cindy Frankey and her partner, Reciel Fielding of Chisago City, MN; Kris Acker and her husband, Jim Acker, Jr. of Harwinton, CT; and Kim Howard and her husband, Ed Howard of Charleston, SC, Avon, CT, and Hyannisport, MA; her grandchildren, Alex, Kyle, Katelyn, Hannah, Sarah, and Jack, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Bev was predeceased by her sisters, Jeanne Milosevich and Linda Shields.
The family wishes to thank Bev’s wonderful caregivers who helped enrich her life in every way.
Private services will be celebrated by the family at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bev’s memory should be made to the Cape Wellness Collaborative to directly benefit the lives of cancer patients and their families on Cape Cod (capewellness.org) .
