BARNSTABLE MA: Constance Kelly Ackell passed away peacefully on November 23, 2023. Connie is survived by her children, Adele Ackell, Edmund and Sherry Ackell, Brian and Mieke Ackell and Rochelle (Ricki) Ackell. Connie was born in Scarsdale, NY August 31, 1930 and lived until she was 93. She lived a full and productive life, raising her four children on her own. She went to Endicott College, then transferred to Tufts University where she obtained a degree in occupational therapy. She had the privilege of dedicating most of her professional career to special needs students, teaching them skills to be productive in their daily lives. Her journey brought her to Philadelphia PA, Cleveland OH, Frankfort WV, Murphy NC and most recently to Barnstable MA where she brought her children every summer as they grew. Her most wonderful memories were learning the ways of the water, sailing, swimming, fishing, being with extended family, and also, the mountains of North Carolina. After retiring she never stopped working. Connie was very crafty and seldom needed to hire a tradesman to do repairs around the house and when she did she would supervise them very closely. She made incredible arts and crafts, bought and sold antiques and was as creative as one could be. “Grammy” had four wonderful grandchildren, Chelsea (and husband Chris), Maya, Josie and Eddie. Her best friend was her sister Carol Hopkins of Atlanta GA. She also had many nieces and nephews, all very fond of her. Connie was predeceased by her parents Aubry and Eleanor Kelly and her beloved younger sister Carla Harden. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends.
