Edith L. Lowe

Wife of the late William G. Lowe.

Daughter of the late George L. and Anna (Johnson) Townsend. She was born on June 13, 1926 in Auburn, MA. Upon graduation from Auburn HS in 1944, she attended the Salter Secretarial School.

Bill and Edie were married in 1951 at St. Matthew’s Church in Worcester, MA, and were happily married for 46 years.

Prior to retirement, Edie worked for Colonial Gas in So. Yarmouth, MA, retiring in 1981.

Edie was an active member of both St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Barnstable and St. David’s Episcopal in So. Yarmouth.

A devoted Red Sox fan, Edie enjoyed keeping very active. She was an avid tennis player, golfer and bridge player. Edie loved to travel, especially by cruise ship. When she wasn’t traveling, she could be found at Corporation Beach in Dennis, MA. She was an excellent cook and a superb baker. In her spare time, she also enjoyed sewing.

A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she is survived by her children, Jeffrey W. of Hyannis and daughter in-law, Virginia A. Turner of Hyannis, David B. and his wife Pamela R. of Sudbury. She is also survived by her brother Robert C. Townsend and his wife Dorothy of Millbury, MA, her loving companion of the past 15 years, Loris Carbocci, her grandchildren: Ariane, Ian, Zachary, Jarrett, Derek, Lillian and Jessica, and 5 nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service at 10AM on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at St. David’s Episcopal Church, 205 Old Main Street, So. Yarmouth, MA 02664.

Calling hours will be held from 4 PM to 8 PM on Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA 02601.

Memorial contributions may be made in Edie’s name to Hope Hospice of Cape Cod.

Interment is private.
