Born Elinor Kasson in Philadelphia to Samuel Z. and Rita Kasson, she grew up in the Bronx and then Teaneck, NJ where she met Robert Letsche. They raced MGs in road rallies, and eloped Thanksgiving weekend of 1957 during a rally they were hosting, and raised their four boys in several locations in the northeast and midwest.
Earning her degree from Fairleigh Dickinson in History, she was always politically active, mostly through the League of Women Voters, and once ran for and served on a local school board. After moving to Buffalo she started a needlework shop in 1977, and continued finishing needlework for select clients after “retiring” to Hyannis.
She is survived by her four sons, Carl, Curt, Chris and Cliff; her daughters-in-law Laura and Cindy; and her four grandchildren, Emily, Madeleine, Robert and Jonathan (Jack).
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Aug 20 from 11 AM to 1:30 PM at Doane, Beal and Ames, 160 West Main St, Hyannis. A committal service will be held at 2:30pm, at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne MA.
