“Glo”, “Sweet sugar”, “Nonni”
Beloved mother of Sam Cucinotta (Bellingham, MA), Tony Cucinotta (Norwood, MA), Dom Cucinotta (Milford, MA), and Jean Hanright (Centerville, MA); adoring grandmother of Michael Cucinotta (Texas), Lindsey Wignall (Vermont), Lesley Woods (Mass.), Shaun Hill (Rhode Island), and Melissa, Lauren, and Jacki Cucinotta (Mass.), and John Hanright (Centerville); and very proud great-grandmother of Chase, Drew, and Sam Wignall, Sawyer and Tucker Woods, and Liam Cucinotta. Special aunt to several nieces and nephews and loved dearly all her familial relations.
Gloria was born in Boston to Antonio and Antonia Zodda. She graduated from Girls’ High School in 1945; married in 1946 to Domenic Cucinotta and raised her family in Natick & Sudbury, MA. Re-married to David Rocha of Norton, MA, and after his death, Gloria and Jean moved to West Yarmouth in 1982. Gloria loved Cape Cod and spent summers vacationing with family at the W. Yarmouth house.
From the sleepovers with friends camping outside to grandchildren going to the beach, mini-golfing, go-carting, and sightseeing down the Cape with nonni, vacations were always fun times. In 1987, Gloria moved to a bigger home in Centerville as the family got bigger. Jean and Jack married in 1995, and Gloria’s last grandchild, John, was born in 1997. In 1999, they bought a house together to be closer; John grew up with nonni.
Gloria was very comfortable in her downstairs apartment, a common haven during childhood tantrums (“I’m coming down here to live with you, nonni!”) and place to socialize, decorate, and relax. Being as she was very patient, nonni put up with John’s antics; blowing in her ears and touching her chin would make her laugh, but she would never refrain from telling him, “Oh John, you’re making me anxious!” She was very much a cherished person; she taught all her many loves, from gardening to cooking to scrapbooking. Quilting, traveling, music, dancing, and visits with family and friends were also treasured joys of Gloria. We miss you terribly, but the beautiful memories will always live on in our hearts.
