

YARMOUTHPORT- Hazel J. (Collins) Athayde, 90, of Yarmouthport, formerly of Lawrence, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Edward Athayde, with whom she celebrated 62 years of marriage.
Born on September 5, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Timothy and Hazel (Fleming) Collins. Hazel graduated from Lawrence High School with the Class of 1949. She spent 32 years as the Vice President of Narragansett Sales & N.P. Beverages. Prior to her retirement, she was the Secretary for Griffin Avionics.
In her spare time, Hazel enjoyed traveling, attending family gatherings, visiting museums, casinos, and the seaside. She loved music, theater, animals, babies, and police dramas.
Above all, she deeply cherished her family and friends on many continents.
In addition to her her husband, Edward Athayde, she is survived by her children, Laurie (Thaddeus) Dobrinski, Paula Ward, and Craig (David Moore) Athayde; her sisters, Barbara Goodwin and Priscilla Apkarian; a brother-in-law, Bob Agnew; four nephews, two nieces; and a former son-in-law, Jonathan Ward.
Hazel was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Carol Pierce; sister-in-law, Mary Agnew; and brothers-in-law, Carroll Goodwin and William (Cheryl Egan) Athayde.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7th from 4-7 p.m. at Doane Beal & Ames, 160 W. Main St., Hyannis. A Committal Service will be held on Friday, July 8th at 10:45 AM at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
