"Yatz"---"Jake" -- who made so many moments shine brightly, with hearty laughs, broad smiles, and an incredibly engaging style!
Every second of life is a precious gift, and Jake lived life to its very fullest. Never will I forget those times in Jake and Laura's spacious, but yet not overly ostentatious basement recreation room where I always lost to Jakes ping-pong battles! Our times in Manhattan, in the Bronx, and warm greetings always to our New York City Fresh Air kids, highlighted by the barbeque, the swimming pool, and good times.
We miss you dearly, Jake.

Dear Laura, Jacqui and Joe,

My heart hurts for your loss.

Jake was one of the most kind, considerate and generous person I had the pleasure of knowing and calling a friend. My friend, “The Oyster Man”, was like a treasured pearl in an oyster, a true gem of a human being through and through.

May the passage of time fill the void of your loss with fond memories and laughter.

Laura, Joe, Jacqui & Family,

I am so so sorry for the loss of Jake. He was such a sweetheart of a man. Always so kind.

I remember years ago, when our kids, Patrick & Joe, were caddying at Hyannisport. That was when I first met Jake. Early morning drop offs... afternoon pick-ups. Jake was the only parent, while we were dropping them off or waiting for the kids, that talked to me. A friendly Hello.. or chit chat. He would tell me, if you need me to pick up Pat or drop him just let me know., because he knew I had another son that needed drop offs & pick ups too. As time went on and the kids became good friends, there were many nights of sleep overs with all night video marathons... our house or theirs. He would either bring Pat home or pick up Joe. We often spoke at HS pick ups...or other sports or events. Jake & Laura welcomed my son into their home and treated him like another son. Jake was an important and good influence in my son's life when he needed a man's point of view. I thank him for that and will never forget.

When the boys graduated and Patrick & I were invited to the family party for Joe, I only knew Jake, Laura & Joe. Jake and Laura made me feel so comfortable. Jake went out of his way to make sure I was introduced to his large family, and that all was good.. that I ate.. etc.

As years have passed, and kids have grown and gone, I would run into Jake once in a while around town. He always wanted to know how Pat was doing.. how we all were doing. I'd ask about Laura & Joe. Always a smile and a big hello from him. The last time I ran into him, he asked again how all was... and Pat especially... we reminisced a little about those days gone by when we would sit and wait for the boys. Sort of missing those days when the kids were young.

A truly good man gone too soon.

My heartfelt prayers and condolences to you all. May your memories of the times together bring you Peace.

Dear Laura, Joe and Jacqui,

I am sorry to hear about Jake; he was the nicest person I have ever encountered in my life. I remember all the times he gave me a ride with Joe from Hyannisport Club, all those donuts on Saturday mornings when Joe and myself would be playing video games all night the Friday before, countless shellfish and those few Pacific Northwest stories he shared with me. Jake had a huge impact on my life when I didn't have much and I credit him for a few parts of what I became today (golf and donuts of course!). Thank you for letting me hang around all those years ago.

Additionally, Gretchen (my wife now), met Jake once or twice and always appreciated the generosity Jake (and you all) extended to her. I'll never forget "Here Gretchen, try this oyster, it'll knock your socks off!"

Truly,

Patrick (Pat) Adukonis and Gretchen Fetscher

Laura, I am so saddened by the news of the loss of your husband, Jacques. While there is no way I can feel your pain, I do feel your loss so very deeply. You and Jacques are clearly soulmates. I wish I could be there to support you in saying farewell to his earthly presence. I enjoyed our times together immensely. The both of you are so accepting to everyone. Yatz is probably standing at the pearly gates with his parents and Boris smiling and serving up some great wine and oysters welcoming people as they arrive Home. 🥰

Peace and love to you, Jacqui, Joe, Andre’, Pierre, Rychard, John-Louis, Paulie, Marianne, Eva, all the family and all who love Yatz during this sorrowful time. Always remember that Yatz is now everywhere and inspiring all of us in his spiritual form. May comfort find you with the strength Yatz gave you over so many years of marriage, the love he wraps around your heart even now, and with and God’s healing power to get you through this very difficult time. 🙏🕊✝️ Rest In Peace, Yatz. You will be missed by so many. ♥️

We will remember a very soggy camping trip to Hermit Island... but we made the best of it! And it seems that's the way that Yatz/Jake lived his life.
Our condolences to his family from the Kaz family.

We met Jake and Laura many years ago by chance at the Rhythm and Roots Festival in Charlestown, RI. We easily became friends because of his charm and warmth. There was something special about Jake that when we got together there was laughter and love.
We are sad for our loss of this beautiful spirit and our heartfelt condolences, prayers and love go out to Laura and her children.
We will raise a glass of good red wine to toast the loss of our friend.
With love and sadness

From the moment Jake started working at our driving school, I knew he would be a natural. His demeanor, his positive attitude and his dedication was unmatched. No matter what health issues he was going through, he always showed up ready to dedicate himself to his students and I will always admire and appreciate him for that. He was the best and I am sure his students would say the same. Not only was Jake an excellent instructor, he was my friend first. I will never forget him, Laura and my brother Todd for what they did for my wife and myself on our wedding day. Not only did they dig up the little necks and gather oysters ( among many other things),Jacques also spent the whole day shucking them for all our guests. He was always so giving to my family and myself, without question or condition. A truly dedicated friend, exemplary instructor, a great listener and conversationalist. You will always be in our hearts my friend. God Bless you for all you have done for us. I am sure Todd will show you all the good clamming spots in heaven! ~Mike
