

Born in Arlington Ma. He was the son of the late Robert and Mary Hambleton. He graduated from Beverly High School. After attending Boston University he embarked on a lifelong career in meteorology. Beginning at Blue Hill Observatory and leading to years with the National Weather Service with stations in Alaska and Nantucket and culminating in a nearly 40 yr broadcasting career. He was a pioneer in the field of television meteorology earning him one of the first American Meteorological Society Seals of Approval for broadcasting. He was an avid reader, history buff, lifelong fisherman and a devoted fan of his beloved Red Sox.
He is survived by his son John Jr and his wife Sally of Centerville; his daughter Deborah of Barnstable; grandchildren John III of Wash.DC; Katherine of Bath Me.; Zachary of Perkiomenville Pa. and Caitlin of Ft Lauderdale Fla. as well as several nieces and nephews and a myriad of friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Saturday April 29 at 11am at Our Lady of Victory, Centerville with internment to follow at St Francis Xavier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local library or cancer charity.
