Born in Salisbury, MD, he was raised and educated there. It was also there that he met his high school sweetheart, Joyce Massey. John graduated from the University of PA – Wharton School of Business and soon after began his career in the business world. He was employed by the Melville Shoe Corporation and advanced to the position of Senior Vice President of Thom McAn shoes. A former resident of the Worcester area, John and Joyce retired to Centerville and enjoyed spending their winters in Punta Gorda, FL. He enjoyed boating, golf, and fishing and was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
He is survived by his 4 children, Deborah R. McAnaney and her husband Edward of Suffield, CT, Linda R. Mason of Punta Gorda, FL, John R. Rademaker of Centerville, and Jeffrey C. Rademaker of Port Charlotte, FL; his grandchildren, Meghan C. Doelger (Brian), Joseph E. McAnaney (Megan), Erin K. Trimarchi (Timothy), Colleen McAnaney-Knight (Sarah), Kaitlin R. Rademaker, Angela Rademaker, Scott Mason, Julie Mason, and Matthew Mason; and his great-grandchildren, Claire Doelger, Maeve Doelger, and Nolan McAnaney. He was the brother of William Rademaker, Lee Rademaker, Margaret Bielen, and the late Nancy Collins; and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Doane, Beal, & Ames Funeral Home, 160 West Main St., Hyannis, on Monday, March 25, 2024 from 4-6 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Victory Church, 230 South Main St., Centerville. Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Centerville.
