Jonathan “Papa” Stott (86) of North Palm Beach, FL and Osterville, MA passed quickly and suddenly of a heart attack while doing one of the things he loved most in life, being of service to his beloved wife of 56 years, Patricia (Patty/Sugar).
He was preceded in death by his daughter, the light of his life, Darby, his parents Whitney and Margaret (Tingue) and siblings William, Ann and Margaret (Peggy).
He is survived by his wife Patricia (Burke) Stott, his son Jonathan (Jed), Jed’s fiancée Kerrie Kelly, his grandchildren Elizabeth (Libby) and Charles (Charlie), along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Jon had a long and fulfilling career in real estate, which he loved, especially because for many of those years he was accompanied by his friend and business partner Peter. In his later years he enjoyed: practicing his faith as a devote Catholic, watching his grandchildren grow into young adults, criticizing people’s driving, laughing at the absurdity of cases presented on his favorite television show, Judge Judy, and writing letters to public officials or business owners, apprising them of his current observations.
Jon, despite his sometimes gruff and blunt demeanor, should be remembered as a kind and loving man, who enjoyed supporting his loved ones and charities that were meaningful to him. He always did this anonymously or with the hope of not being recognized.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church in Centerville, MA on Friday March 27 from 10:00 – 10:45 AM followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in St Francis Cemetery where he will be reunited with his daughter, Darby.
Jon’s family requests that in lieu of flowers, which would frustrate him out of embarrassment, please buy a loved one flowers, anonymously donate to a charity of your choosing or write your local congressperson with your concerns, in his honor.
