He graduated from Barnstable High School in 1978, where he excelled in sports and academics.
He leaves two sons, Dan of New Zealand and Joshua of Boston, sisters Donna Fenner of Marstons Mills, Patti Soule (Phil) of Osterville, and brother Jim Ford (Chris) of Centerville.
He also leaves nephews Ben Ford and Sean Ford, and nieces Kelly Major, Jennifer Soule, and Amanda McLaughlin.
Joe was an animal lover, having adopted many family dogs over the years.
Joe was predeceased by his parents Joseph D. Ford Sr. and Shirley A. Ford, and by niece Meghan Parker.
Donations may be made to the MSPCA.
Funeral services will be private.
