EN EL CUIDADO DE

Doane Beal & Ames

It is with great sadness we announce the loss of our mother, Katherine "Kitty Andrews", on January 12, 2023 at the wonderful age of 100 +. She was preceded in death by our father John "Red" Andrews, who died on January 18, 2019. John and Katherine are survived by their loving and adored children, Joan Snell and her husband William J. Snell, III, Esq. of Wakefield and Hyannis and John E. Andrews, Jr and his wife Cheryl of Conesus N.Y. and her daughter Kelly and husband Joshua Pike and 3 grandsons. Kitty and Red also will be missed by their devoted great grandsons, Aiden and Conor Snell of Wakefield. Kitty was the daughter of Antoinette Zaccone DiPesa and George DiPesa and the stepdaughter of John Ferraro, from Revere. She was the sister of the late George DiPesa, Florence (Tootsie) Demore, and Ralph DiPesa all of Revere. Kitty is survived by her brother John (Sonny) DiPesa and his wife Helena of Connecticut and step-sister Joanne Ferraro Magno of Melrose. Red, was the son of Helen Monahan Andrews and James T. Andrews. Red was predeceased by his brother Lt. Commander James T. Andrews, Jr. and Joseph Andrews. They leave many loving nieces and nephews, but their most cherished ones are Teresa Brown and her husband Don, from Ohio, Antoinette Krasnowski and her husband David, of Connecticut and Jeff DiPesa and his wife Susan from Utah. Red and Kitty were high school sweethearts, graduating from Revere High School. After graduating, Kitty worked in Washington D.C. for the Marine Corps and Red attended Massachusetts Maritime Academy. During WWII, he was an engineer on Merchant ships that sailed frequently across the North Atlantic. After they married in 1944 and settled in Revere, they were surrounded by family and many friends. They enjoyed spending summer days at Cranes, Nahant, Revere and Cape Cod Beaches and playing cards with the family on Friday nights. In 1967, the family moved to Hyannis where Red was an engineer at the Sandwich Power Plant. Kitty was an avid reader and attempted to learn to play the piano. In their retirement, they enjoyed tennis and bowling with a wonderful group of friends. They spent winters in Florida into their 80’s, then ventured to Italy with a group of high school friends. A tradition began in the 2000s when the entire family went on holiday with them to Aruba every winter. In the last 7 years they were taken care of by Guela Litchman, in a loving, caring environment that she provided for them so their dream to live out their final years in their own home became possible. Their home was welcoming to anyone who stopped for a visit and enjoyed a glass of Sweet Walter wine. Funeral arrangements in the care of Doane, Beal, and Ames, 160 West Main Street, Hyannis, MA, on Tuesday February 21, 2023. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial for both of our parents in St. Francis Xavier Church, Hyannis MA, at 11:00. Burial will be held at the National Cemetery and will be private. In lieu of flowers, our parents would prefer a donation be made to St Francis Xavier Church, 347 South Street, Hyannis, MA.
