Lance Dean Andrews-Rose also known as Lee, Coach Lee or to his family LJ, age 23, passed away un-expectantly at his home Thursday, January 18, 2018. LJ was born at Cape Cod Hospital on September 25, 1994 to Mary Lanzo and Lance Dean Rose. He lived and grew up in the town of Barnstable with his mother Mary, Stepfather Tony and younger sister Naomi.
LJ from a young age was full of life and love. Early in his life he was diagnosed with high-functioning autism, but that never held him back in life. He was born catholic and went on to maintaining a Christian faith. He has always possessed an energetic passion for sports. He participated throughout the years in the Special Olympics. LJ went on to coach many teams in many different sports. Many he coached would remember his encouraging and passionate speeches. He was a fixture at the Hyannis Community youth center, helping in any way he could. He enjoyed writing plays for the teams he would coach. LJ loved music and would write his own songs, he also enjoyed performing in front of a crowd and giving speeches. He was very social and well known at school and within the community. He participated in the high school choir. LJ embraced interaction and a conversation. He loved humor and would often make his own jokes that didn’t quite seem to connect at the end but we always enjoyed listening to them because of our love for him and he was so enthusiastic about telling them. He often enjoyed watching George Lopez (a comedy show), Thomas the Train, Batman, Sponge Bob and of course any sports show or DVD he could.
He enjoyed time with his family at the holidays and special occasions and always looked forward to a good plate of homemade food. At every family event he would discuss the current sports and ask us our thoughts on it and he was ready with a strong rebuttal.
LJ started cleaning offices with his family and went on to custodial work at the local Veterans Affairs office. He also volunteered for meals on wheels a program through Barnstable High School.
He is survived by his Mother Mary Lanzo (Andrews), Stepfather Tony Lanzo, sister Naomi all of Hyannis , MA and grandmother Rosalie Rose of Harwich, MA and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He is predeceased by his biological father Lance Rose and Grandmother and Grandfather Roy and Johanna Andrews and Step-Grandmother Margie Hicks.
