

Hyannis, Mass - Mary Der Hagopian, 90 , died peacefully at the Mayflower Place Nursing Center on Sept 17,2014.
She was born on the family farm in Salem NH on October 17, 1923. Mary was the youngest of 6 children of the late Hagop andAghavnie ( Rustigian ) Kachadorianand was a lifelong member of the Ararat Armenian Congregational Church in Salem, NH. After graduating from Salem HighSchool, Mary moved to Providence RI where she met her husband of 56 years. (August 24,1947) - Jacob John Der Hagopian . They resided in Providence, RI 1947-1952 and then Barrington, RI 1952-1964 where they raised their family. Mary was involved in the Rhode Island Women's League of Voters and enjoyed painting antique furniture. Mary and her family moved to Holden, MA 1964-1976 . After a quick two years in Johnstown, PA they retired to Hyannis, MA. Mary and Jake spent most of the last 30 years living in both Ft. Myers Florida and Hyannis, MA , where they enjoyed golf at the Forest Country CLub in Fort Myers and traveling. Mary decided to relocate permanently to The Mayflower Assisted Living facility in W. Yarmouth in 2012. She considered Cape Cod to be her real home.
Mary was an avid bridge player and golfer who in her later years was a regular attendee at the Holy Ridge “ nine and dine” . She also found great pleasure in her volunteer work at the Dennis Playhouse.
Mary is predeceased by her husband Jacob John Der Hagopian, survived by her son, David Der Hagopian and his wife Cynthia, of Winter Park , FL and her daughter Rosemary Kohut and her husband Ronald , of Naperville IL. She is also survived by her 2 grandchildren, Aram Der Hagopian of Chicago IL and Arielle Der Hagopian of NYC.
