Nathan Pina, age 41 of Hyannis, MA passed away on February 4th, 2023 surrounded by love and family. Nathan was born September 6th, 1981 to Margaret Holly Pina at Cape Cod Hospital. Two short years and a strong bond later, Marc Galvam would marry Holly and become Nathan’s father for life. Two sisters followed, Keysha and much later, Jean-Marie, whom both he loved with all his heart.
Nathan grew up playing sports throughout the Cape Cod school systems including baseball, basketball, football and hockey, which was his favorite. He also spent time attending Cape Cod Tech where he studied HVAC and gained knowledge on the profession he would spend most of his life finding fulfillment in. However, ultimately in 2001, Nathan graduated from Barnstable High School, the same year he welcomed his oldest daughter.
Nathan was a proud father of six children, Gillyin Pina of Plymouth, Quincy Pina of Wilmington, NC, Davonté Pina, Asia Litchman, Aaliyah Pina and Nathan Pina Jr., all of Hyannis. He was also the husband of Ashley Litchman-Pina, whom he shared the true meaning of “in sickness and in health, for better or for worse”. The two were married for 10 years, through the thick of his declining health and Nathan often spoke of the countless number of times she saved his life during his time here on earth.
Nathan had a long battle after having a replaced heart valve. After many years following of frequent seizures, strokes and heart attacks accompanied by lingering blood clots, the heart that loved us all so dearly could not pump any longer. He is now finally at peace.
Nathan is survived by his loving parents, Marc and Margaret “Holly” Galvam, his sisters Keysha and Jean-Marie Galvam, all 6 of his children, his wife Ashley, nieces Aniya Gilmore and Mariah Galvam, his only nephew, Jahziel Orr, and many aunts and uncles. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Sebastian and Doris Pina, his uncles Robert Lomba Sr., John Pina, Leo-Glen Galvam and Sebastian Pina Jr., as well as his paternal grandmother Dolores Lobo.
Nathan’s visitation services will be held from 11am-2pm, Monday, February 20th at Doane Beal and Ames, followed by a private lunch for close friends and family.
