Richard K Maier, 71, formerly of Rochester N.Y., passed away suddenly of cardiac arrest on June 9th. Born August 9, 1939 in Toronto Canada. Mr. Maier received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Penn State. He became a U.S. citizen as a child when he and his family moved to Westover Acres in PA. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He had a 29 year career as a computer specialist at Xerox in Rochester, N.Y. before moving to the Cape in 1998. At the time of his death he was working part-time at the Christmas Tree Shop in Hyannis. He loved his wife, family, the Red Sox, Bruins, Cape Cod and fine Scotch.
He is survived by his wife Patricia (Lynch) Maier. He leaves his daughter Angela Paxton and husband David and two grandchildren Gillian and Maddy Paxton all of Carmel, IN. He also leaves his son David Maier of East Falmouth, a stepson Keith Baika of South Boston, a brother Carl Maier of Great Island N.Y., as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday June 13, 2011 from 4-6 pm at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 160 W. Main St. Hyannis, MA 02601. Donations in his memory may be made to the Beacon Hospice c/o Lighthouse Foundation 259 Willow St. Unit 2 Yarmouth Port, MA 02675.
