Silja W. Emrich
27 abril , 1926 – 2 septiembre , 2021
Silja W. Emrich passed away unexpectedly on September 2. She was 95. A proud Finnish-American, Silja was the last of ten children of Henry (Heikki) Manni and Hilma (Viik) Manni who emigrated to this country from Karstula, Finland, in the early 1900s. Silja lived her entire life on Oak Street in West Barnstable, about 200 feet from the house where she was born.
Silja worked as a teller and bookkeeper for Barnstable County National Bank. She loved her job and the people she worked with. Silja was an active member of the West Parish Church in West Barnstable for 60 years, serving in many different roles including Deaconess, Church Secretary, President of the Women's Guild and Sunday School Teacher. When she grew older, one of her favorite activities was making the lobster rolls for the Rooster Crows Fair.
Silja married Richard C. Emrich of Yarmouthport shortly after WWII. They were married for over 60 years until his death in 2011. Silja is survived by her sons, Mark and Peter; seven grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
