William Fiske

West Barnstable - William Prescott Fiske, 83, passed away on December 8, 2019 at Cape Regency Nursing Home. Born in Boston, MA to the late Daniel and Emily (Prescott) Fiske, his mother passed away when he was only 4 years old, however he was raised by a loving step mother.

He grew up on New England’s largest apple farm and loved country living. His great grandfather founded R.H. Sterns, a retail store in Boston. William loved the history of his family. His grandfather, who was Calvin Coolidge’s best friend, and family had an apartment in the White house. His mother flew with Charles Lindberg after his return from his famous flight.

In 1956, William came to the cape and began working at a gas station, which eventually spurred his love for cars, especially antique cars. Not long after, he opened up a small machine repair shop.

Although he lived with epilepsy, that did not stop William from doing anything. He was a great bicyclist and biked everywhere, especially to visit friends and help others. He loved helping people and had many friends.

He was a founder of the Cape Cod Antique Car Club. He enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, enjoyed traveling and his favorite trip was through the Panama Canal. He loved making jokes and having fun but was a quiet man and was not much for small talk.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years Mary Fiske, a French Baroness, and their rescue Pomeranian, Daisy.
