

Paul was born March 20, 1959, in Idaho Falls to Henry M. and Maxine P. Niemeier of Shelley. He grew up on a farm outside of Shelley, Idaho, and spent his youth playing league sports in baseball, basketball and football.
He graduated from Shelley High School in 1977. During his high school years, he excelled in varsity sports being selected on the All Conference Football League as a wide receiver, a talented forward in basketball where he held District 6 scoring records, and running track on relay teams winning state titles. He received an award for Basketball Player of the Year in his senior year.
After graduating from high school, Paul attended the University of Idaho. He Joined the Alpha Tau Omega (ATΩ) fraternity and was involved in many Intramural sports leagues, leading teams to capture several Campus-Greek Intramural championships for ATΩ throughout his college career. He graduated in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications.
He started his career in financial and business management with Farmer’s Insurance Company in Pocatello, Idaho. He advanced within Farmers Insurance where he held various entry and mid-level management positions working in several western states before finishing his life long career in 2015, as the Business Insurance Manager for the State of Nevada; in charge of 245 agents and 7 District Managers. Later in that same year, Paul moved back to Idaho to assist with the care of his mother.
Paul never lost his love for sports. He was an avid golfer, hunter, bowler, billiards player and fisherman. Throughout his life, he played on various city leagues in basketball, rugby and softball and coached teams in youth sports. During football season, nothing came before a Pittsburg Steelers game, being a true fan.
He was an ardent reader and movie fan throughout his life and maintained large collections. His friends meant a lot to him and he was known for his loyal dedication and devotion.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Chris; and his sister-in-law Carla. He is survived by his sister Theresa, (Buddy) Walters, Colleyville TX; brother Todd (Suzanne) Niemeier, Marietta, GA; brother Scott (Cindy) Niemeier, Spokane, WA; Niece Lindsay (Jakob) Scott, Othello, WA; Nephews Ryan Niemeier, Marietta, GA; Austin Niemeier, Sandy Springs, GA; Matthew Niemeier, Vancouver, WA; and Hunter Niemeier, Baton Rouge, LA.
In lieu of a service, Paul’s family will be hosting a Celebration of Life at the Firehouse Grill, located at 2891 South 25th East, Ammon, Idaho, on Wednesday, January 24th from 6-8 p.m.; all friends are invited to attend. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.buckmillerhann.com
